Master’s Degree MIGRIMAGE: Mediterranean Border Cultures and Communication Studies

PRESENTATION: The Master’s Degree MIGRIMAGE: Mediterranean Border Cultures and Communication Studies is a unique interuniversity and international academic programme in Europe, focused on the critical analysis of Mediterranean borders and specialised training in communication, migration, and border cultures. It is a joint degree offered by the University of Granada and the University of Salento, exploring the border contexts of Southern Europe through a transdisciplinary perspective that integrates cultural studies, geopolitics, audiovisual communication, digital journalism, transmedia narratives, and social activism.

The master’s programme is the result of collaboration between the University of Granada —through its campuses in Granada, Ceuta, and Melilla — and the University of Salento, with the additional academic participation of the University of the Aegean in Lesbos, Greece. This international academic alliance connects three border spaces that are especially relevant within contemporary migration dynamics towards Europe: Ceuta and Melilla, the island of Lesbos, and Southern Italy.
